- The German team plays the Gunners in the Champions League quarterfinal.
- They won at Brighton, their tenth straight Premier League match.
As Arsenal gets ready to take on Harry Kane and Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s Champions League quarterfinal, Martin Ødegaard has emphasized that they have no fear of anyone.
Following an outstanding victory at Brighton on Saturday, Mikel Arteta’s team has rekindled their title challenge by winning 10 of their 11 Premier League games since the beginning of the year and conceding just four goals.
After giving up a two-goal lead and losing 3-2 at Heidenheim, Bayern’s chances of winning the Bundesliga again appear to be virtually gone. Meanwhile, unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen is now just three points away from winning their first championship.
The only remaining avenue for Bayern and Kane to win a trophy is through the Champions League, even though the captain of England scored 38 goals in his first season after joining from Tottenham.
Though Ødegaard, who played a key role in Arsenal’s victory over Brighton, is aware of Kane’s threat, the captain of Arsenal believes his team will be up to the challenge of facing the six-time champions, beginning with the first leg at Emirates Stadium.
“It is true that we should respect him, but we should not be afraid of anyone,” he stated. “We must pay attention to the qualities that make up our team and to ourselves.
He plays the game well. I have had a few games against him, so I am aware of his abilities, particularly in the box.
He also excels in link-up play.”
In response to a question about Arsenal’s ability to match up with Thomas Tuchel’s team as they get ready for their first tournament appearance since 2010, Ødegaard stated, “Every game we play there are good challenges.”
It is going to be an exciting night at the Emirates because Bayern is a strong team with lots of talented attackers.
“We have observed that they have experienced some peculiar outcomes in the league. It will be a difficult battle, but we are prepared because of the team’s quality and knowledge of their strengths. They are a formidable opponent with excellent individual players,” Odegaard revealed.
